Paris and London Birthday Trip - La Galerie Dior

Day 2 - Minutes after we arrived at our hotel, we set out to see the spectacular Christian Dior collection at La Galerie Dior. The exhibit was massive. There are so many beautiful things to see. These are only a few things that I was able to remember to take a picture of. It included everything from hats, shoes, perfume, gowns, and much, much more. It was all inspiring and captivating.

I loved every moment of it. It would have been very easy for me to "linger" well beyond my welcome. Lol

If you plan to visit La Galerie Dior, make your reservation before coming to Paris. The tickets are by appointment. There is a steady stream of guests waiting to get in. We arrived early but still had to wait until our appointed time. Tickets are under 16 Euros. Go to their website to reserve your visit.

Thanks,

Inspiration - The Vertical Lines of Valentino Fall 2016

I love looking at fashion show pictures of different designers.  It is such a great source of inspiration.  One of my favorite designers is Valentino.  The designs are so elegant, classy and full of different design elements.  With any collection, there is a general theme or design element that you will see throughout the collection.  Some elements are adacious while others can be as simple as a color.  Often, one design element is a combination of several little details that create a look or style, whether it is vertical lines of intricately worked beads and embroidery.

For my current work in progress, I focused on a very simple design element that I saw throughout the entire collection.  That is vertical lines.  The vertical lines are in many of the garments; they are translated into seams, trims, beads, and patterns in the fabric.  Here are a few garments for the Valentino Fall 2016 collection.

Chanel - A Fresh Take on Finger-less Gloves - Inspiration

Chanel is one of my favorite designers. I just love looking at the beautiful details of the garments and accessories that are post of the Vogue Magazine website. The designs are a great source of inspiration and always leave me wondering what will pattern companies draw from them. In many instances, they have already published a very simple version of some incredibly beautiful design element or garment that graces the runway.

In this case, I noticed the finger-less gloves on almost every models' hands in the Chanel Fall/Winter 2016 runway. As I scrolled through each picture, I grow more and more fond of the finger-less glove. Some had bracelets on top, other were ruched. All were quite beautiful and helped make the outfit complete.

Simplicity recently published 8273, which covers the a portion of the thumb. While Simplicity 3942, published several seasons ago has the thumb exposed. Both patterns can help make some beautiful versions of the finger-less glove. These is an easy sewing project that offers all sorts of opportunities to make unique gloves. Great for Christmas gifts.

 Happy Sewing!
