Sewing Classes In My Neighborhood

Last week I decided to do a three mile walk down West 95th Streeet. And lo and behold I discovered the EWS Tailoring & Fashion Design Academy (1802 West 95th Street). I never noticed it before. I travel up and down 95th Street all the time. The view is much different on foot than in a car.

They advertise tailored pants in the window. DD and I peeked through the window, but couldn't really see anything. They were closed. You know what's next. Today I called to request course information. No one answered so I left a message. We'll see what comes of it.

  2. I hope the no answer just means they're on vacation, and not that they are closed down for good... Local sewing schools are so important!

  3. No sewing schools in my area. I'd have to take a train into the city.

  4. Cennetta. It looks like they're in the process of moving.
Go to their site if you haven't been already. Perhaps their new location is still in your neighborhood or a short drive. Let us know.

I see they are moving further west on 95th Street. Looks promising.

  7. Thanks for the shoutout on my wall on Facebook. I don't know if I ever told you that I used to live in Beverly/Morgan Park so 95th street wasn't too far away. My friends and I used to take the bus down Western Avenue to Evergreen Park Plaza in the early 80s.

  8. Hi Cennetta- I actually have heard great things about this school. They are a great patternmaking school and do a lot with slopers. Adrianna from Princess Seams Blog took classes there when she was in Chicago. They have a location in Riverwoods which is closer for me! Let me know if you sign up!

  12. Robin - You're welcome. I've the same experience growing up; going to Evergreen Plaza on the bus. lol

Cindy - I think I'll take one class this fall or winter. The website makes the classes very appealing. I'll let you know which class when I register.

    Everyone, Thanks!
