Looking Back - 2009

Happy New Year!

I would like to thank everyone who visited my blog and special thanks to those of you who graciously left a word of encouragement. Last year was good; I've made some improvements but want to continue to explore some couture techniques. The list of goals for 2009 was the same as the previous year. Looking back on them, I still did not quite meet them. The reason maybe due to the breadth of them. For 2010 goals will be more targeted than last year's. I'll post them tomorrow.

A year in review 2009

More Challenging Projects - Yes. My nieces prom and dinner dance outfits.

Quality over Quantity - The list of finished garments is huge considering I have a full time job. I need to work on the quality part a little more.

Making something from leather - Didn't do yet.

New Specialized Machine - Haven't bought yet.

Refine Terms and Conditions for Clients - Almost done, needs a little more tweaking but usable.

Purchased more Reference Books - Just sewing magazines and crochet books.

Organize - Needs more work

UFO's - Only completed four, but haven't added to them. All 2009 unfinished (cut) projects are being worked on.

Networking - Not so much in person, a little in cyberspace. In November, I became a member of the Haute Couture Club of Chicago. My first meeting will be in February.

  2. You had a very productive year and made some spectacular garments, be very happy and proud.
As far as the UFO's; I think the plaid skirt is gorgeous, I would wear it with a loose, maybe a bit flamboyant/avant garde top, the skirt is stunning and hints at your sleek legs- don't give up on it!

  3. I think you had a fantastic year! All of your garments (even the ones you don't care for) are beautiful.

And to not have added to the UFO category is a feat in itself!

    Good luck in 2010!

  4. You've done a fabulous job, considering you have a family and work full time! I remember that purple dress, the first one you've shown in this post - so pretty, young and feminine, definitely one of my favs of yours for the year.

  5. You have been very inspiring to me this year. I love looking in to see what you've made...I've gotten a few ideas and bought several patterns...so whatever you're doing keep doing it because I'm sitting at your feet retrieving the crumbs to use for me. :)

  7. Happy New Year to you!
You've had an amazingly productive year. If I could offer a word it would be, be kinder to yourself. You're doing a lot and producing a lot. Enjoy the process.
And I have to say, I enjoy seeing your garments over on flickr even before you post here.

  9. You had a great year! I have to say that I've loved so many of your garments, but I've been particularly impressed with your pastor robes - you have a real talent for putting together something that is regal and beautiful and will look at home behind a pulpit. I'm excited to see what you make in 2010!
