Jean Pool 2014 - Jeans vs. Leggings
Is everyone getting rid of their jeans? This year has been the year of the leggings. It looks like leggings are replacing the long time wardrobe staple, jeans. I can't imagine life without them. A recent study revealed that there is a decline in the purchase of jeans. How could that be?
I like leggings too, but they will never replace my jeans. So today's inspirational post is all about denim. Enjoy!

Oh! I love my jeans too - they are totally different creatures than leggings.
ReplyDeleteI'm never gonna give up my jeans! I wear leggings every great once in a while, but really, it's a rare occasion when I'm not wearing jeans. :)
ReplyDeleteMe either. I have one pair ready to sew.
ReplyDeleteI love my denim. Soon I will post a little back story on my first experiences with sewing denim.
ReplyDeleteI love jeans too!! There is nothing like a good-fitting pair of skinny jeans--though I enjoy a legging every now and again.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if we're seeing fewer jeans because we're seeing more variety in pants and seeing more causal skirts and dresses. Chambray is everywhere right now, so I don't know that we're seeing a decline in denim so much as denim being used in other ways.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle. Check out this article/video on the declining sale of jeans: http://on.aol.com/video/are-yoga-pants-the-reason-blue-jeans-sales-are-declining--518402620
DeleteI love jeans! I have not taken on the challenge of sewing denim yet. I am looking forward to seeing your created looks! There is not a wide variety of patterns using denim.
ReplyDeleteThanks, KJ2007. I currently have one pair of black jeans on the cutting table. I hope to finish them before the end of the month.
DeleteI love my 100% cotton denim jeans - yeah for jeans
ReplyDeleteI hate leggings - I own 1 pair that I used to run a half marathon - it was cold so I put the leggings on then my running shorts - I have not wore them since
Thanks, Cynthia Kindred. I like leggings but I'm not replacing my jeans for them. They are comfy.
DeleteI LOVE my jeans and will never replace them lol. I do love leggings but not THAT much lol
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Adrienne. Jeans are a staple, number one go to for weekend errands.
DeleteGive up jeans here in Texas? Never!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda T. This Chicago girl won't give them up either.
DeleteThis woman is so beautiful! I love her on "The Haves". I love jeans too....all the way.
ReplyDelete"Constance" is beautiful. She is also in the new James Brown movie. I haven't watched "The Haves.." in awhile though.
DeleteI can't imagine my life without jeans. Not happening here!

Thanks, I Sewed it.
DeleteI'm currently making my 3rd pair in as many weeks! I love jeans and can't imagine life without them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise. I'm anxious to finish my new jeans too.
DeleteI'm with Linda, A Texas girl is born in jeans, and will die in jeans ;) BTW, found some great inspiration in those pics for other projects. Fun, fun, fun.
ReplyDeleteHey, I want to see you in those jeans with the ruffles up the legs ;) you're going to kill me one of these days!!!!!
Rhonda, You are too funny. The ruffled jean leg is TOO MUCH for me. ;-) I do the realway and not so much over the top runway style. They are interesting and I do have a girlfriend who would wear them in a heartbeat.
DeleteI will NEVER replace my jeans! I do have a pair of leggings which I have yet to wear. My jeans - I wear everyday.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Tomasa. I love my jeans too. I like leggings too, but not as much as my jeans. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteI think someone above hit the nail on the head -- there's so many things we can wear below the waist that are in style and easy to find: pants, shorts, skirts, leggings, dresses, tights. Jeans are simply seeing more competition than they've had since they became popular.
ReplyDeleteMyself, I own two pairs of jeans, only one of which I wear with some regularity. I don't much like jeans and never really have, so I love all the other options available now. That being said, I love denim and denim-look fabric in other forms, especially button-down shirts.
Thanks, Makingtheflame.
DeleteYes, there are many fashion options out there to us. And jeans and leggings are only two. My wardrobe has a variety of all the items you mentioned above. I do see more women wearing leggings compared to jeans these days. And even fewer women wearing dress pants. Thanks again, Cennetta
