Jean Pool - Back Pockets Part II

Using the suggestions from the 1981 Palmer/Pletsch pattern I went on a hunt for potential back pocket designs. Of course, I did the easiest thing: I googled "back pocket designs". Here's what I came up with as potential designs for the jeans I'm making from M5515. This pattern does not have back pockets so I used the back pocket pattern from the 1981 Palmer/Pletsch pattern.

Potential Designs:

Copied lines to pocket using tracing wheel and paper:

Went over lines with tailor pencil:

Next Sewing the design onto the pockets.

Stay tuned!

  1. That's a great place to put your own designer touch to your jeans. It's fun to play around with pocket designs.

  2. That design would look really great if you put a decorative thread in the bobbin and sewed it right side down! I just saw an article on that technique somewhere.

  5. It is fun adding a design to the pockets. I'm working on finishing the seam allowances this afternoon. We will see how much I get done.

  6. What a fabulous idea. I need to attempt to make jeans first, but will remember adding a design to the pockets.

  8. That's really cool that you are making your own design on your pockets. I'm sure it will look great.

I wanted to welcome you as one of my new followers. I'll try to post something new soon. I just lost my grandmother. The funeral is tomorrow. So I'm in a little bit of a lull. But I'll be getting back into the swing of things again. I hope to post some pretty pictures of her when she was young in a few days.
