The Little Black Dress - On My Fall 2010 List

Recent fashion magazine say, "trade in your little black dress for a red one or a white one." Personally I can't see myself without at least two little black dresses in my wardrobe.

The little black dress has made my sewing list again. The plan is to make two. So this week I started searching for some inspiration of the Nordstrom website. Here are a few options:

I purchased these fabrics at Vogue's a few weeks ago. Both pieces for under $10.00 each.

The "List" keeps growing and growing and growing.

Stay tuned!

  2. Nordstrom is such a great place to seek inspiration. Their dresses are so classy and sophisticated. You picked some great fabrics. Can't wait to see what you make. I still need to get a LBD I've been putting it off long enough:)

  5. I have a New Look pattern exactly like the first one! It comes with a little jacket/cardigan and has a peach, b&w, and burgandy illustration on the cover? Sorry, i don't have it handy to check the number!

The 3rd one looks most like "you" to me!

  6. Hi, Cennetta. Looking at the first dress on today's post, I was at Dillard's yesterday and found nearly this exact dress in a shantung celedon for DD#1 and a golden shade for DD#2-- neither dress was more than $23 on the clearance rack. Each dress had a collar and a mock wrap sash/belt. I love this idea that you've shown and perhaps we will remove the sashes/belts and make a blingy cumberbund of sorts. These will make beautiful party dresses any time of year, but the girls now have their Christmastime party dress all set to go... well, nearly. They're not black, but when I saw the first dress of this post, I nearly giggled. Isn't it-- and all these-- pretty?!

  7. That second fabric is fabulous! Btw, I can see you rocking many of those inspiration dresses. Good luck just narrowing it down to two. ;)
