I used Vogue V1314 to make so many t-shirt dress.  It is my go to for something quick and easy to make.  It sews together in less than 2 hours.  A great staple for my wardrobe.

Two Red Dresses - Simplicity S1314 and McCall M7405

Like I said in a recent post, I've been sewing quite a lot during the past few months trying to sew up some of the beautiful fabrics that I already own.  These two red dresses were made in early July.

Simplicity S1314 is a favorite TNT.  I can make this dress in a few hours.  All adjustments already made and using a neoprene knit makes it quick and easy.  This fabric comes from Minerva Fabrics in the UK.  I've had it for a few years.  Originally, I made an off the shoulder McCall's top.  But it just didn't work out.  The whole project was trashed, and I order two more yards of fabric because I really like the print.

McCall's M7405 I only made it once before in 2022.  I thought  it was time to make another.  It is a perfect style for summer.  And these dog days of summer in the Midwest have been extremely hot.  This fabric came from Fashion Fabric Fabrics.  I purchased it this year.  The light and airy viscose challis moves with the slightest ease.  It's a great little summer dress that breathes. 

So, these are two of the dresses that I planned to make and wear this summer.

More Stash Busting with S8389 and S9894

More Stash busting with patterns that I've sewn before.  I'm so pleased with being able to shop my stash.  It is so gratifying to move these lovely fabrics from the sewing studio to the closet.  I hope to get some picture of me wearing these garments very soon.

There is not much to say about these projects as I have reviewed the patterns before.  I hope to have pictures of my wearing them soon.

Joggers To Love - Vogue V8909

Yes, these are joggers to love.  I've made them about four times.  So, this pattern is a TNT.  My first pair are reviewed here.

There isn't much more to say about these other than I did a little leg treatment at the bottom of each of my latest pair.  The green pair is my favorite.

I will certainly make several more in the coming years.  So that's all for now.

Pattern Favorite - New Look NL6824

Birthday Dress!

I'm delighted to share another addition of my birthday dress project.  I've used New Look 6824 FIVE times.  And this is the second time I used it for a birthday dress.  The first one was a ivory crepe satin with a lace overlay.  That was in 2008.  I was a smaller person then. Lol

Patterns can be easily altered, which is fantastic.  For this fifth installation, I just graded it up as I cut.  This was a super quick make.  I needed a pink-ish dress for our church Annual Women's Conference.  This was the first time our main "color" wasn't white.  I went digging through boxes and bins looking for this fuchsia wool that I purchased at Fishman's Fabrics years ago. Lucky for me I had already paired it with a China silk lining.  Both were neatly stored in a plastic bag.  No moth wholes, just perfect.

I didn't really have anything in mind when I purchased it.  So now, it is a Jackie O-ish dress that is so me.  It sewed up fast.  No problems at all.

Parting Photo:  Pink was the color this year.  All because of the new Barbie movie.  I wasn't my goal to make three pinkish outfits this summer.  There is a collage of my three pink outfits that I completed this year.

 

Turtleneck Sweaters Are A Winter Staple

It's turtleneck season again!

I'm starting off the season with Burda Style 6990.  I think it is safe to say that this pattern is a TNT top for me.  This is the third time I've made view D.  

The sweater knit comes from FabricMart Fabrics.  It's a soft cozy cotton blend sweater knit that washes well and has great stretch recovery.  I needed some more navy in my wardrobe.  So this striped knit is a welcomed addition.

I'm wearing my new turtleneck with another pair of Burda Style 6879 pants made of a textured stretch woven fabric also from FabricMart.  These were made in early October.  This is the forth version I've made.  Other versions of the turtleneck and pants are here and here with full pattern reviews.

Minerva ITY Silky Knit - McCall M7812 and Simplicity S9147 Third Time Is A Charm

This is a showing of a new top and pair of pants using patterns I've used before.  Once I work out fit issues of a good wardrobe staple pattern, it's so easy to make it again and again.  Such is the case with both M7812 and S9147.

It's been a few years since I used McCall 7812.  Here is the link to my review.  Simplicity 9147 is a new release, and I've made a modified version of the pants three times in less than four months.  Link to initial review is here.  Both patterns are now a TNT (tried and true) for me.  

For my latest version of the top, I used a lovely ITY silky knit from Minerva Fabrics.  I love the bold print and the vibrant colors.  Perfect for my little blue and red wardrobe.  My slacks are made using a beautiful stretch woven that I got from Mood Fabrics several years ago.  It was originally slated for a dress, but I changed my mind. Lol.  I have enough left  for a vest, which I'll make later.  Both fabrics were pre-washed and dried before I cut into them.

Mood's Jersey Knits Always A Winner

One of my favorite types of fabric to order from Mood is jersey knits.  They have an amazing selection of colors and textures.   

For my birthday this year, I chose to use Mood's Blue Abstract Burnout Jersey and their Spruce Green ITY Jersey. I purchased both several months ago.  The blue burnout is no longer available, but there are four other colors that still available.  As for the Spruce Green ITY, it's still in stock and is also available in a few more colors.

I was inspired to put these two colors together after looking at several different Azurite and Malachite crystals/stones.  The crystals are amazingly beautiful possessing two of my favorite colors.  So why not use this inspiration to create something special for myself.  So off I went to search for fabrics that were the same colors are my inspiration stone.

The marrying of the two fabrics was perfect.  The difference in stretch did not pose any problems with combining the two.  This dress came together beautifully.  I started and completed it all in the same day.

Only last month, I decided to use the fabric to make Butterick 5672.  This pattern is not new to me.  The first time I made it was in 2011.  You can find my review here.   And the second make here.

Given that this is the third time around, I didn't need to make many changes to get the desired fit.  I just lengthen the bodice about an inch and added a few inches to the skirt and sleeves.  Of course, I upped the size a little bit too.  This simple knit dress is a winner just like the fabric combination.  I love the fit, skirt waist, and the draped front.  The print/texture of the burnout knit coupled with the draped front adds a whole other element of interest, distracting away from any body imperfections.

Another thing that I like about how this dress turned out is how well the spruce green jersey shines through the mesh of the burnout.  Both fabrics are well noticed and neither out shines the other.

Overall, I am well pleased with this third version of Maggy London's Butterick 5672.  Great fabric and great pattern combination.  You can count on two things:  I will purchase more knits from Mood.  Not because I am Mood blogger, but because their knits are of great quality.  They sew, wear, and wash very well.  Wearing this dress feels like I have very little on.  Great for comfort.  Secondly, I will make this dress again.
